Type At Home Review: Ticket To Riches Or Another Typing Scam?

Posted by in Not Recommended | 1 comment

Here’s the scenario Type At Home wants you to think: for example, you apply as a part-time typist. You can get a maximum of 4 job assignments per day and each one can pay you up to $45. Since you won’t be paid on an hourly basis, you have control of your time – ‘fun and flexible’ as the home page goes. So apparently, this company is affiliated with Netflix, Walmart, AT&T and Home Depot to name a few. Wow, those are big names. And since every assignment may take anywhere between 1-2 hours, if you spend a total of 8 hours for all the tasks for the day, it’s probably safe to assume your earning daily potential is around $180. Full-time typists earn $75 while business owners get $175 per assignment. I want to be ecstatic but the alarms are ringing in my head because it all sounds too good to be true.

WHAT’S THE CATCH?

Well, there’s no such thing as free lunch. Because you need some training, you have to purchase the corresponding kit. Included in each kit are training videos. After which, you will be assessed. To be honest, I don’t know the difference between a part-time and full-time typist aside of course from the hours they put in for work. I mean, I don’t understand why the need to pay 30 bucks more.

HOW LEGIT IS THIS?

As a typing company, you’d think proofreading their page is an SOP. Sadly, not only does their website look like it’s been put together hastily, but there are misspellings too. *facepalm* Aside from typing the articles, you also need to review certain products and services. While the work seems to be clear and honest enough, I highly doubt you will be paid that much. And as to the legitimacy, I cannot guarantee that especially since there are various complaints lodged online about non-payment and falling short of their promises.

HERE’S THE REAL DEAL

I know what you’re thinking: after getting through those trainings, you’ll be bombarded with assignments. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. What you will end up doing is soliciting for typing jobs. Remember those big companies they boasted about? They’re not really affiliated. In fact, I doubt Netflix knows they’re being used by Type At Home. So you see, no jobs are waiting for you even after you finish the training. That’s right. You will hunt for work instead of those assignments falling on your lap. But wait, what about their ’17 years of active business service’? Yeah, that’s the downside of the internet – you can say pretty much anything you like. And there’s no evidence to back up this claim.

VERDICT:

Type At Home is a scam. No one, I repeat, no one should pay just to get a job. It doesn’t make any sense unless you’re trying to build a business wherein investment is necessary. Otherwise, it’s highly improbable that a company which claims can pay you $45 for every job assignment will also offer overpriced training kits BEFORE you even have the chance to earn. This is no different from those paid surveys who ask for membership fee payments. Why not just deduct the amount after your first earning right? But of course, since Type At Home either pays you a measly amount or wouldn’t pay you at all, you shouldn’t expect them to live up to your expectations.
