Survey Scout gives off the impression of being a paid survey company. It’s true that several corporations put so much value in customer opinion and feedback that they’re willing to shell out buckets of cash for market research purposes. And businesses like Survey Scout serve as the “middleman.” In fact, it has been on the worldwide web since 2007. However, despite it being a popular website, let’s ask the most important questions most of you have:

IS IT LEGIT? IS IT A SCAM? DOES IT DELIVER WHAT IT PROMISES?

First of all, let’s take a quick look at what they project on their homepage. Survey Scout has several methods in which you can earn money, or so they say. One, you can make up to $15 or more by taking surveys. Second, joining focus groups gives you the earning potential of up to $100 per day. Third, phone surveys rate at about $10 an hour and lastly, you can try new products, get paid and keep them too.

Does it sound too good to be true? Yes, because it is.

When you sign up for an account, it’s not free unlike other paid survey companies. You will be asked to pay $34.95 up-front. Now, for those who have been making money online for quite some time, this will already serve as a red flag. Why? It’s because if Survey Scout already gets paid by companies to distribute their surveys, why would they need to be paid AGAIN by those answering them? It doesn’t make any sense. And while others may offer free tours before requiring you to pay and enjoy premium services, Scout Survey doesn’t do such. In fact, you don’t even get the chance to see exactly HOW you can earn until you pay the aforementioned amount. If you sensed red flags before, now you might hear alarm bells ringing.

In addition to all these, despite being a legitimate-looking website, Survey Scout is not accredited with Better Business Bureau or BBB. By definition, BBB is a “US nationwide organization that uses established criteria to rate the ethical and community  standing of a firm and provides this information as a means to maintain a high level of trust between the businesses and the public.” However, a quick search shows that the company has a few resolved issues.

So there, if you’re looking for other reasons to doubt the legitimacy, this is it.

But what exactly does Survey Scout give its members?

Contrary to the information they provide on their website, they are NOT a paid survey company. They say: “Right now, I have hundreds of market research firms looking for survey takers.” This is, in a way, true but not the way they make potential members believe. How?

When you pay and register, you DON’T get invitations to answer surveys. In fact, signing up merely entails getting unlimited access to a directory of paid survey websites.

Yes, Survey Scout is not the “middleman.” And the list contains results that you can find with the help of search engines.

But did you really pay for nothing?

Not exactly because despite making shady promises and setting different expectations, registering with Survey Scout has some perks:

• More websites than what Google/Bing/Yahoo can generate.
• It saves you time by not including those which are spammy.
• You can earn access even to international paid survey websites.
• Even though it’s different from what they make people believe, anyone can still make money by earning invitations after registering with the sites given in the list.

VERDICT:

To conclude, Survey Scout may not be a total scam but it misleads people into thinking they can earn directly from the site. Though there still may be advantages when signing up, it may not be what one expects. It’s best to explore other FREE options before deciding to pay for something which may not be worth a few dollars.
